My 401k contributions through Fidelity go to the FID 500 INDEX. I have personal investments in SPY. Today was a good rally for SPY, but FID 500 INDEX showing -4%. Am I missing something?

I changed my 401k contributions to the FID 500 Index about 8 years ago assuming it was the closest I could get to an S&P 500 Index. Today I checked my account just because today was a rally, and they don't even match closely at all. Am I missing something?

Trump says Hormuz is permanently open. Crude isn't convinced.

Trump said yesterday the Strait of Hormuz is ‘permanently open’ and that China agreed to stop arming Iran. If true, that’s a meaningful de-escalation of the Gulf situation that had crude elevated for months. Oil sold off on the news, but only about 1%. WTI is still sitting above $91, …

I’m a portfolio manager with a side hustle

We re literally at war rn despite the contemporary ceasefire. LMT and NOC, two of the largest US defence companies, both just secured new contracts from the US military, whereas their market prices keep going down when other A&D companies re up today, with LMT below 600. I dont understand.

How are you all tracking competitive signals for portfolio companies? Looking to compare notes on research process

Curious what workflows people here use for ongoing competitive monitoring, specifically for fintech I've been building out a system that pulls from SEC filings, job posting changes, and app store sentiment automatically. The job posting angle has been surprisingly useful, hiring surges in specific departments often signal strategic shifts 6-9 …
