As the title says I am curious to know how it is suggested to allocate investments across (Roth) IRA, 401k, and brokerage accounts. Do you pick an overall percentage goal for fund types and make sure all accounts sum to those percentages (ex. 80% S&P 500,10% med cap, 10% small cap), or do you focus your 401k with different allocations than your IRA or brokerage? If using ETFs do you try to jot overlap across accounts?
New to being able to invest significantly/max out retirement accounts and am having difficulty finding information on the advantages the account type may have depending on the investment.
