Opened a brokerage account on Feb 20,2025. Currently red over ($400). Thinking about pulling out until sentiment improves

I literally just opened my first portfolio on Thursday the 21st. I bought the following products around 6:00 pm that evening:

32 shares of IBIT.
7 shares of QQQ.
20 shares of USO.
100 shares of VGSH.
20 Shares VOO.

My first day on the market, Friday- yesterday, I’m currently red… over ($400) and rising.

I know I’m new at this but there seems to be a strong bias on Reddit, especially the r/stocks sub that just promotes the idea of “buy, hold, recession fears aren’t real and don’t worry about it”

I understand that logic. It’s especially easy to say when your personal account has profited from one of the greatest bull markets in history. However, to a guy like me -lower middle class- taking a nearly $500 loss on the first day, with general sentiment worsening is pretty tough. I went against my better judgment and invested right now, and now I feel like I made a mistake.

Regardless of partisan arguments, the current administration’s decisions regarding layoffs, budget cuts and tariffs might help America in the long run, I’m now economist, however they will absolutely hurt the markets in the short term.

My account has literally only lost money, I have not benefited from the bull market of the last 5 or 10 years at all, as opposed to most people here. I am thinking that I should just take my loss and wait for the big dip, instead of holding and taking the loss. Maybe invest in gold or some inflation resistant bonds (advice would be great) until the current situation calms down.

Thought? Arguments? Predictions?
