I recently tried posting a thoughtful question on a certain “anti–Wall Street” subreddit, and the response I got was basically: “If you’re thinking about how you invest, you’re in the wrong place. This is a casino.” That really made me pause. Isn’t the whole point of being “anti–Wall Street” to think more critically about your strategy and avoid the traps set by big institutions?
If we’re just YOLO-ing on meme stocks and risking it all, are we really sticking it to Wall Street—or just giving them more liquidity to profit from? It feels like this supposed rebellion might actually be funneling retail investors into high-risk gambles that end up benefitting the very system they claim to fight against.
Curious to hear your thoughts: Is there a real path for retail investors to come out on top, or is the “anti–Wall Street” message just smoke and mirrors?
