Let’s discuss layoffs and the market impact: is now an ok time to invest?

Recently received 3 months severance from being laid off and I want to invest maybe 25-50% of it.

However, with the layoffs occurring around us, is now really the time to be sticking your money in index funds and individual stocks? Feels like the economy is in a precarious position and we don’t know what will happen with the job market in the next several months.
