Hi,
I am 25 years old, studying medicine, and through part-time jobs and smart investing from a young age (18), I have managed to grow my portfolio to $150,000.My original plan was to start putting everything into VWCE and chill, because I realize I have a long time horizon ahead of me and that compound interest can grow my wealth significantly over time.
Lately, however, people have been discouraging me from doing this, saying that I am young, that I should take more risks and try picking individual stocks or even investing in riskier assets such as crypto. Their argument is that I can afford to wait out any potential market downturns, and that investing in ETFs means missing out on potential gains.
What would you advise me? Is simply holding VWCE over a 30-year horizon really an unnecessarily passive approach? I invest using a DCA strategy every month, and I would gradually increase the amount as my income grows.
As for my future, I expect to earn a solid income for most of my working career as a doctor, so I probably won't need to withdraw money from my investments. I am investing primarily for retirement, or perhaps some form of FIRE around the age of 50.
(Sorry for grammar and bad spelling, english is not my first language)
