Greetings everyone,
I just turned 34. I admittedley goofed off in community college after highschool. It took me forever to earn my undergrad, and today, said degree isn't even earning me my living. For all intents and purposes, I'm only in the fourth year of my career. For the last two years, I've earned an annual salary of $70-$80k as a contractor. Having just got an apartment, my monthly expenses total about $4-$4.3k. While I ultimately have the money saved, quarterly tax payment months especially suck.
I currently hold $41k in a HYSA, and I contribute $600/month. For the last 2yrs as a contractor, I've also been contributing to a SEP IRA. Although I'm choosing safe ETF's, my IRA will just barely hit $10k come the end of this year. While I know we all move at our own paces through life, I feel that statistically my net worth should be closer to $100k (if not greater). The good news is: I'm debt free.
**I'm not asking for financial advice, but rather lifestyle anecdotes from others who played from behind or whom are also playing from behind. What changed the game for you?**
