Im a 19(M) and I just opened up my Roth IRA and began investing in April.
In my Roth IRA I’ve simply been investing in ETFs, but the last few weeks I’ve been eyeing an individual stock (AUR). I ended up pulling the trigger and buying around $600 worth of shares a few days ago, but my parents told me that I have to buy it in my ROTH IRA account.
This led me to thinking, why would I want an individual stock in my long term retirement account, when I see the stock as a short 5-10 year investment, that won’t be working like an ETF does over the next 45 years.
Maybe I’m not understanding something, not asking for personal advice, just curious please educate me 🙃
