Back in 2018, Google PER was > 40.
But since then Google stock has made +500% (x6).
If I had used a stock screener in 2018 I'd probably missed that out (PER is one of the most used metrics to gauge wether a stock is cheap or expensive)
And I'm definitely neither Warren Buffett nor an expert at stock picking.
So I've decided to code my own searching platform for this with a different angle.
Instead of providing the criteria first, I gave the searching engine a specific stock select a date.
Example : NVIDIA → May 2023
One stock to enter and one click only.
The engine will go through 5000+ universe of US stocks to get the top ranked stocks that match both financial & market trend metrics of the entered stock at the selected date.
In other words:
"Find stocks that looked like NVIDIA on May 2023."
I didn't want a black box, there is no AI prediction at all.
Only data engineering.
Because I needed to trust it, I make it crystal clear with all the detailed about why the candidate stock was selected.
Any detail I could fact check myself on internet because all the data used to build it is public and free.
I've been building this project for a while and I'm now at the point where I'm wondering: Can it be usefuel to other investors, portfolio managers, wealth advisors, ...?
