If you suddenly received $100,000 today, would you invest it all at once or spread it out over time?

I recently found myself thinking about a scenario that comes up surprisingly often. Someone receives a large inheritance, sells a property, exits a business, or simply accumulates a significant amount of cash and suddenly has a six-figure sum sitting in their account.

The data generally suggests that investing a lump sum immediately tends to outperform dollar-cost averaging over long periods because markets spend more time going up than down. At the same time, the psychological side of investing seems much harder than the mathematical side. Investing everything the day before a correction can feel terrible even if it is statistically the right decision.

Personally, I think many investors underestimate how much emotions affect decision-making. It is easy to say "just follow the data" until you watch a newly invested portfolio drop 15% within a few weeks.

I'm interested in hearing what people here would actually do if the money landed in their account tomorrow and why.
