Bubble within a bubble within a bubble - Time to think about regenerative investment

There are endless posts about the AI bubble, so I don't have to explain that one. Here's one particularly [insightful article](https://pluralistic.net/2025/09/27/econopocalypse/#subprime-intelligence) on it.

A less talked about one is the "bubble" being created by oil pricing soaring as a result of the Iran war. A boom like that is very likely to be [followed by a bust](https://www.reuters.com/commentary/breakingviews/oils-price-boom-foreshadows-post-war-bust-2026-05-01/).

And then there is the longer-term but HUGE "bubble" that very few want to talk about. That's the undeniable fact that since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution we have been building a system dependent on infinite extraction of finite resources. And *now* we are hitting up against those finite limits. It's a longer-term, slower process, so much harder to look at as a "bubble," but [it really is happening](https://www.wired.com/story/gaya-herrington-avoiding-global-collapse/), and it's happening now in the 2020s. Things like oil wars, pandemics, and even [authoritarianism](https://www.fastcompany.com/91219487/the-disturbing-link-between-climate-change-and-authoritarianism) are expected consequences of this systemic collapse.

If you want to understand that one further, have a look at the r/collapse subreddit, where you will find many articles about how we are now seeing real and dire consequences of this endless extraction. Perhaps the most pressing thing we're facing in 2026 is the developing [Super el Niño](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-54f4e985-a7fb-48b2-8246-f3be0d699402) coming in tandem with the expected major hit to agricultural markets by the [fertilizer crisis](https://www.worldpoliticsreview.com/strait-of-hormuz-fertilizer-food-security-shock/) (also caused by the Iran war). The end result being deep food insecurity on a broad scale. It doesn't get more basic than food; and global food insecurity is going to have many, diverse, and somewhat unpredictable consequences.

This is the time to start thinking about *non-financial* investment. Specifically, [regenerative investment](https://integrationcenter.org/investment/). That's the idea of investing your money into non-financial models that can provide you with real, non-financial wealth: the chance to have real security (and happiness) in a deeply uncertain future.
