Turning 34 next month and I can't get excited about the traditional retirement timeline.
Every piece of advice seems to be "max your 401k, keep buying index funds, retire at 65." Maybe that's fine for some people, but the idea of waiting another 30 years before I can really enjoy my time sounds like a nightmare
Asking from investing perspective:
What would someone my age need to do to have a realistic shot at retiring in their 40s? How much would I realistically need invested by 40? Is retiring before 50 even possible without making a crazy tech or finance salary?
Maybe this sounds impatient, but life isn't guaranteed. Every time someone says "just wait until you're 65," I can't help but think that's a pretty big assumption that we'll all still be healthy enough to enjoy it by then. I want realistic advice only.
