What's the actual story on Charles Covey and Valorem Capital? Background checks out but want more perspective

Been digging into Charles Covey and Valorem Capital for a couple weeks now. The surface stuff all checks out but I want more depth before forming a real opinion.

What I've found so far: started in construction at 16, spent close to 30 years building and operating companies in blue collar industries, founded 12 companies, and won the 2021 Aggie 100 Award from Texas A&M which is based on actual revenue performance of alumni companies, not reputation. Now running Valorem Capital with two funds, the Blue Collar Business Fund for trades acquisitions and a Secured Land Fund for Texas rental housing.
