Has any non-Africans here invested in African stocks? What's your experience?

I'm looking to invest in African stocks, but I'm not sure how to get started with it. I've been investing for a few years now, but this would be my first venture into less connected markets.
Looking for any tips on how to get started, such as which apps to use, which credentials I'll need (if any), and anything else I need to get started.
