FYI To Anyone Currently Holding Bitcoin

I want to say this is not an attempt of an attack on bitcoin or a claim it will go to 0, I do not think that It will, I think its just more important that people realize what they are actually holding, the idea that bitcoin is forever and unchanging is "not true"

As I am typing this there are about a handful of very opinionated nerds which are trying to make the case for using their version if bitcoin, called bitcoin knots, or the core version of bitcoin, called bitcoin core. If 55% of miners switch to bitcoin knots (currently like 5% or smth), then the bitcoin protocol gets updated, and the chain becomes slightly "newer". At this point the idea is that the remaining 45% will just switch over to the new chain because that is now "true bitcoin"

The worst case scenario for this, is that if those 45% of miners do not switch, or then the support goes back to 50%, now you have 2 different competing bitcoin chains, if you sell your bitcoin you will have to decide which one you sell it it, and one of them will likely become worthless.

I'm not saying this will happen, but the fact there is a non zero chance that it could, when trillions of dollars are on the line, and its all up to a handful of nerds? Why even do these changes if peoples futures are on the line.

I think anyone holding bitcoin should take a very good look at what is going on and if they are okay with putting their money in an asset like this.
