21 year old in college making decent money for the first time what would you do in my position financially?
I’m 21 and in college studying chemical engineering. Over the past \~6 months I’ve been lucky enough to make about 2–3k a week from a remote job while still in school full time, and I also have a pretty solid scholarship so I’m basically paying very little for college and have no debt. I don’t really come from a finance/investing background at all (I understand engineering way more than money stuff), so I’m kind of figuring this out as I go. Right now the only investing I’m doing is maxing my Roth IRA for the year, all in VOO, and everything else is just sitting in a HYSA. I’ve thought about day trading/options but from what I’ve read it seems like a good way to lose money if you don’t know what you’re doing, so I’ve stayed away from that because I’m more trying to think long term and actually build something stable. At the same time I’m still 21 and in college so I do want to enjoy some of my money too and not just save everything. I guess I’m just looking for honest advice from people who know more about this than I do if you were in my position, what would you actually do? Keep stacking index funds, look into bonds, individual stocks, real estate, or just keep it simple for now?
