Why do people who just buy index funds call themselves investors? You set up an auto deposit once. My grandmother does the same thing with her savings account.
Seriously asking. I see people on here acting like they cracked the code because they bought VOO and forgot about it. That's not investing, that's outsourcing your thinking to a committee and hoping for the best.
At least people who pick stocks are actually engaging with markets, reading financials, taking a position. Index fund people just… exist and collect. Good for you I guess, but let's not pretend that's a skill.
Am I wrong? Because this sub treats passive investing like it's some kind of intellectual achievement and I genuinely don't get it.
