Hi all,
I hope this doesn't count as self promotion...I just don't know who else to turn to.
*Disclaimer: this isn't about wanting personal financial advice - this is just about wanting some reassurance, and maybe some perspective from others....because I never told anybody I knew that I had started investing and I really don't know anybody in real life who's knowledgeable in the field....so I'm just out here doing shit, lol.*
I started my investment journey about 8 years ago...and frankly, I was doing okay (ish) - at first. However, I was heavily invested in the cannabis industry and well....yeah. I lost about 40% of my capital (at around the 3 year mark).
I'm pretty sure I made the right move in selling and moving on. I was pretty busy so I didn't \*really\* take the time to learn how to invest....but I played around a bit, and here are my stats (post my personal Great Depression):
5 year return: about 15% (fluctuates day to day)
3 year return: about 110% (again, fluctuates day to day, this is basically when I figured out that analysts are actually ranked...lol).
1 year return: About 70% (again, it fluctuates)
I was feeling pretty pleased with myself...until I started seeing the accounts and returns a lot of people on here seem to have. I feel like I don't know anything.
Am I hopeless?
Is this normal?
Are my gains over the past few years trash???
Please tell me it's at least a little normal to fuck up when you're starting out....why does it seem like nobody else on here has ever gone through a huge crash like I did???
Thanks in advance.
