New ‘PACTs’ idea could help early Bitcoin holders prepare for a quantum future - Cryptopolitan
Tbh, this is an interesting proposal. However, the same issue persists- users would need to take action to secure their ownership in the next 5 years.
But at least in this case, it could "feel" like they weren't frozen out, even though the same premise exists...
Inaction results in frozen coins so that quantum computers simply don't take them.
I think the risk to the protocol so that Satoshi can simultaneously "own" his coins (that he seemingly will never use) while hiding his identity is not worth it.
Personally, I don't think it is unreasonable that self custody requires user action of changing wallets due to a security risk. If you have 5 years to do so, your assets were not frozen. Either the protocol needed to take action or your coins were going to be stolen.
And I believe that even though I hold QANX.
For a time I thought winning the "quantum narrative" might be enough.
Considering every chain can claim they have a solution, narrative isn't enough.
So now I think more about what is the resulting opportunity.
Every time I've ever posted about the quantum threat, the response is:
"If it can crack wallets, we'll have bigger problems with other systems"
Well, then that's a gigantic emerging market.
Systems worldwide looking at how to migrate.
Solutions that play in that space have guaranteed demand.
QANplatform is the only blockchain based tech I'm aware of offering innovation for this new market.
And so unlike other holders of quantum coins, I don't think we need Qday panic, nor do I think it helps utilty coins if Bitcoin fails to navigate the quantum threat.
