Hello all. A little background. In my late 20's I discovered Robinhood and M1 finance. I stayed with M1 finance for about 10 years before stumbling upon Dave Ramsey. A few years ago my wife got let go from her job, and I wanted to make sure we did the right thing and invested it in the correct place. So I moved our Annuities, IRA's, and Stock accounts all to a financial advisor through Dave Ramsey. Had kids, and started their accounts in there as well. Recently I noticed the 4.5% fee on my kid's accounts, and the $200 monthly fee on our other accounts. Now let me be straight up here, the accounts have gained about 32% in the past few years and it has cost us maybe $6k total. So the gains far outweigh the costs. The issue I have, is could I have just made those gains myself and saved the 6k? I also don't want my kids to be locked into some account that they can't access. Just looking for advice. I am starting to dislike not being able to have access to my accounts when/if I need to.
