I'm almost 30 years old and was recently blessed with what to me is a substantial amount of money and I obviously want it grow like everyone else here but I'm new to all of this. I was able to max out my roth for 2025/2026 and threw it all into VOO for now since its simple and easy to do long term. My average is around $611, I just wish I had gotten it under $600 but I'm not worried about the roth since it is my long term account.
But just having my roth doesn't feel like it's enough especially for shorter-term gains, so I created a taxable account and put $3000 into MSFT but I'm in at $414 which feel like it's at the top because its up 12% this week. The same for everything else, lots of stocks are hitting ATH. NVDA, AMZN, AMD, all at the top and that's why I felt more comfortable putting something into MSFT which isn't near its ATH and down on the year.
I guess my main questions are:
Am I late to the punch on most of these individual stocks, and if so, DCA on red days? or wait until the market settles down a bit then hop in.
What are your thoughts on MSFT, also thoughts about Oracle?
Where do you guys do your reading up on stocks?
