Tips for researching startups?

This is an absolutely "hear me out" post and yes, the majority of my account is in SPY and various sector ETFs managed by the likes of Fidelity/Blackrock. But if you buy early-stage companies with big contracts, potential to be useful in multiple sectors or regions, or final clinical studies before FDA approval, surely you'd hit paydirt eventually?

So far, this strategy led me to get 11 shares of AMPX for 180.62, 2 shares of IONQ for $62, 9 of ONDS for $92 (this one stings), 1 RVMD for $136.18, and SWMR for $42.32.

So, anyways, my auntie is an immunologist, so I can consult her on whether a biotech startup's clinical study results look meaningful. Yeah, I did ask her about Revolution before buying. My dad is in IT and I often consult him on whether a startup's business idea looks sane.

But I'd like to expand beyond that and listening to the morning brew podcast omw to work and listening to Brew Markets/The Journal podcast at the gym in the evenings. Although that setup did give me the idea to buy 1 of EWY while it was $126.71 (and that's been a 15% gain in like 2 weeks).
