How feasible is to start trading by yourself as a means to make your living?

Hi there, 32M here, turning 33 soon and thus "old" to pivot from my current, unsatisfying ESG role to a proper investment role. I mean, I'm trying but I haven't been successful thus far...
I've always said to myself, I'll start trading on my own if I don't get a job in investments. However, I wanted to check if anyone has done that and which advise you could give me! I refer to when you are self-employed and trade for a living (read: you're the asset manager of yourself... Yourself Inc).
Background about myself: masters in economics and finance, 5+ experience in asset manager (ESG role).
Any advise is more than welcome!
