I've read online that some financial advisors recommend people hold [1-5% of their portfolios](https://www.planadviser.com/advisers-increasingly-considering-crypto-part-financial-plans/) in cryptocurrency. Crypto proponents view Bitcoin as "[digital gold](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/392340346_BITCOIN_AS_DIGITAL_GOLD_BETWEEN_PROMISE_AND_REALITY)". However r/Bogleheads is very against this. They argue that it produces no value and isn't useful as a currency or store of value due to its volatility.
