Hi, not seeking financial advice I've only got 6.5k in a S&S ISA which I top up weekly with all my spare cash, I was just wondering if anyone else had adjusted their shares/stocks since Iran kicked off?
As a former war involved individual, I feel this campaign is only going to grow arms and legs and whilst I'm able to soak losing a few quid in my humble pie, I've been doing quite well so far with modest gains (2.1k) and long term it's to help me retire a wee bit early from the ambulance driving. I also enjoy looking ahead.
I had a look at what I was invested in and was very AI and Tech heavy with the main back up in Gold. I'm assuming my AI/Tech will be more volatile to the coming energy demand and have reduced these to spread more into UK/US bonds, high dividend and clean energy and increased my FTSE (thinking BAE/BP might do ok) for the time being and also reduced my overseas bonds. Ive also sold all my NVIDIA stocks. I use a moneybox S&S which does limit available stocks i can buy, I'm quite keen on Rolls Royce as they are involved in modular nuclear which I can see doing well in 10 years or so but it's not available to me on that platform.
Am I on the right trick trying to think about the context a bit or am I exposing myself as a complete amateur who should just pay an advisor at this point? Does it even matter or should I just have maintained what I had and it will balance itself out? One piece of advice if it's allowed, how often should I review this position? As I said I'm not massively invested I'm just a geopolitics junkie who likes to save and invest spare pennies where I can, but I do enjoy it and find it very interesting. Second bit of advice actually, what is the typical route for becoming better at predicting future growth areas beyond reading the news and applying your own historical based judgements about the direction of global events and how it affects the markets? Is this what finance people actually do in their career? Ive always viewed finance as a geeky endevour outside my scope but recently Ive found the interplay with geopolitics and history quite time consuming. Thanks troops.
