I know little about investing and would be interested to hear thoughts as I try to getmy head round my options and understand which would be considered standard vs unconventional please.
With almost all my equity investments currently in tech equity funds, my investments are heavily us-skewed. I feel I should diversify.
To that end, I can't decide whether to start investing in a global ftse all cap fund or an asp equity fund. In theory, global ftse allows me to diversify (as it's global and non-sector specific) but in reality it's heavily us / tech skewed. On the other hand, whilst it seems prudent to have some of my money in asia given the East vs West struggle that seems likely to continue in the coming decade, ASP fund performances can't hold a loght to global ftse performance over the last decade.
I suppose my question is - is there any consensus on what would be considered a prudent distribution for someone who doesn't know much and just wants to park money and leave it for a decade?
Any views/opinions/thoughts gratefully received please
