Keep seeing these posts like market lost trillion dollar today or gain. It was never really there in the first place. Imagine everyone in town owns one cow, and one person sells theirs for $1 million. That doesnât suddenly make everyone a millionaire unless they can actually sell their cow for that price too. But on paper, people start saying the whole town is worth millions because of that one sale. The price is set by one transaction, not by everyone cashing out at the same time.
Thatâs how I see the stock market sometimes. Market cap is just the last traded price multiplied by total shares, but if everyone tried to sell at once, the price wouldnât stay there. So when people talk about total market value like itâs real cash sitting somewhere, I think itâs more theoretical than people admit.
