Long-term investing is research heavy. Why is structured data still so hard to access?

One thing I’ve noticed in long-term investing discussions is that we focus heavily on valuation models and thesis building but rarely talk about the infrastructure behind our research.

Pulling consistent historical data across multiple companies is harder than it should be. Clean multi-decade price history. Standardized metrics. Cross-market comparisons.

Institutional investors have clean data feeds. Retail investors often have browser tabs.

I’ve recently been exploring newer API-based financial data platforms that are trying to bridge that gap still early, currently waitlist-only but focused on making structured historical datasets more accessible to independent researchers.

If reliable, affordable access to normalized financial data became mainstream, I think we’d see better research across the board.

How do you currently structure your long-term data workflows?
