Help talk me down....worried about volatility

I've been reading too much about AI. I have also personally seen how capable it's been getting in the last 6 months. I can't help but acknowledge that this is going to start leading to layoffs. What that will do the market, and my job as a physician, I am not quite sure. This in addition to some of the uncomfortable candor from both parties in DC just don't have me feeling good about the future.

While I am hopeful that the movie Wall-E or Idiocracy doesn't come true...and that is the more salient fear. In the short run, I'm wondering about pulling out and getting into an incredibly boring portfolio. I'm normally about 25% real estate, 10% bond, 30% large cap, 15% small, 20% global. Most in index funds.

While at my age I would have suggested that I'd work for another 20 years and therefore can take whatever insane volatility that I am scared may occur soon. The fact that many jobs may get disrupted has me curious if planning a more conservative strategy for the next two years could be prudent?

I know that history shows that everything in the US market will continue to trend up. I've read the coffee house investor about 4 times and that's exactly what it says too. But AI was never a thing during any time in the past. And the interaction the US government has had with our allies also does not have any historical precedent. As such.....I'm looking for some sage words from likeminded individuals...thanks (and sorry to be a worry wart)
