I'm a pretty conservative investor and right now I'm in a good position to retire later this year.
But a former coworker of mine, who isn't exactly stupid, is absolutely convinced the market is going to crash, the dollar is going to collapse, and you should move EVERYTHING to precious metals like gold and silver. He's literally converted all his savings into metals, metal companies, leveraging options as gold rises as of late.
I'm not much of one for apocalyptic collapse theories. I tend to believe reality ends up being between the extremes. I'm wondering what the thoughts are here on such extreme theories and applying them so drastically to investment strategies.
