Turns out PSLV is a Canadian PFIC. I didn't know that. I've owned it since 2021. It doesn't show up on the 1099 forms from my brokerage that I give to my tax accountant.
I have no income but if I ever want to sell my shares, I'll owe 37% tax each year I've owned PSLV plus interest due to some obscure tax rule I've never heard of that was designed for rich people I guess but I think a rich person would have known about this.
