I’ve got an uncomfortable amount of cash sitting around and the dollar is losing value quickly. I’ve realized that holding dollars is becoming a liability.
How are you preserving liquid purchasing power amid a declining dollar?
I’ve got a fairly diversified portfolio. Probably equal parts cash flowing real estate and US stock indexes with a bit of MAG 7 weighting, some EX-US exposure and a growing position in EU defense. Nice chunk of bitcoin and a small sliver of precious metals.
but there’s a wad of cash getting eroded and I hate moving quickly about things. a friend said he’s sticking a bunch of his in Swiss Francs for now, which doesn’t seem crazy. I’m a little leery of gold given it’s at all time highs, but I suppose that’s justified given “full faith faith and credit“ of the US government is at all time lows...
I don’t want to make some extreme bet that the US is cooked. But I need to do something and TIPS or CDs just don’t seem safe enough.
