Okay so when I backtest since \~2016, performance between QQQM and a SCHG/SPMO combo is extremely similar, which makes sense given tech leadership over that period.
My question is more about structure than past returns:
SCHG + SPMO seem more “set-and-forget” in the sense that they can rotate across the entire U.S. large-cap universe and into any sector that becomes dominant over time, whereas QQQM is constrained to the Nasdaq exchange and excludes financials.
So my thesis is that QQQM is a cleaner, more concentrated bet on continued Nasdaq-style growth, while SCHG/SPMO is a more adaptive approach that may better handle regime changes if leadership shifts away from tech.
For those who’ve thought about this tradeoff: which would you prefer to hold long-term and why?
