Probably just a tangent but collective thoughts are valued in my books.
Warren Buffett is largely considered the greatest value investor of all time. He has also stayed away from technology. He represented that the reason was because one should stick to what they know.
He also highly regarded Benjamin Graham who stated that no more than 10% of your assets should be poured into speculation.
Would it be accurate to state that the technology sector is inherently speculative? It requires continuous R&D to continue progressing into areas uncharted and adding value or alternatively a specific company just needs to purchase its competitors to stay relevant without new progress. When compared to insurance, we can be certain that casualties will occur out of the insured’s budget and therefore the demand for insurance will endure.
