How do professional investment firms detect sales trend of the companies they invested in?

For example, just a few days ago, Tesla released a press conference showing that according to the sales delivery consensus, their EV sales are down a lot and then stock prices went down significantly after that. Okay that's fair. But my question is, do those professional investment firms who invest hundreds of millions of dollars in stocks/options have any method or intel on the sales trend "before" the company publicly shares it? Like do they have some inner circle network that can get info from large car retails in US, Canada, UK etc etc?
OR are those professional investment firms just like us and they have no idea how the sales trend is and just rely on news articles and then react after the news hit?
