It's a common sentiment to "VOO and chill" your savings. I have quite a lot of money saved up in mutual funds and ETFs myself. Really, it's just a way to diversify one's investment into a bunch of US companies, so really it's an investment in the US economy. Clearly, if the US enters recession, your portfolio worth will drop regardless of your investment strategy. But something just doesn't sit right with me that everyone is relying on one single strategy. It just does not seem super robust.
