I read a post by a young person that wants to get rich by ‘investing’ in Bitcoin. How does the purchase of a Bitcoin contribute or promote anything that we need more of in our society? When we (collectively) lose sight of what we are investing in and think of investing as merely a ‘bet’ that someone will pay more for a stock or a crypto-token in the future, we lose sight of what makes an economy strong. The benefit of a strong economy is that we produce goods and services that we want to consume.
Placing ‘bets’ without any thought to whether your money supports the production of desirable goods and services will assuredly lead to a society devoid of desirable goods and services. Having a larger personal share of the total economic wealth of a society is only a good thing if you produced and contributed value. We need to hold each other accountable. Only pay for value and quality; don’t spend money on crap.
From an investment perspective, INVEST in the things that you want to promote - better technology, healthcare, energy efficiency, food production, entertainment.
