Iv been really into the idea of using some leverage in my retirement account since I’m only 28 and have time on my side. I was looking at TQQQ ( would only ever put a fraction of my portfolio in that) which has the potential for some huge run ups but due to leverage decay it has gone sideways for periods of several years while QQQ had seen some modest gains over the same period (December 2021- July 2025).
Recently found DXSLX though which only does 1.75x leverage and a monthly reset rather than daily. Expense ratio pretty high at 1.4% as it usually is with leverage but any long period with positive returns would dwarf that. It also seems to track its goal of 1.75x over the long term with little decay due to only resetting monthly.
Thought on holding a decent amount of this for 30+ years? Was also thinking I could bring down my target investment in S&P500 a bit and buy more international as sort of a hedge since the leverage is giving me more exposure with less $s invested.
