Has AI become overvalued because it nullified the means to prove it's not?
I am trying to wrap my head around this market. Kinda worried I might appear to be AI due to my typing habits, so I'm using turd emojis as bullet points.
Everywhere I go, it seems like investors are the only ones interested in AI (as in not complaining about it). From the consumer perspective:
๐ฉ [Kurzgesagt outlined how the increased difficulty of fact-checking is consuming too much of their time.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zfN9wnPvU0)
๐ฉ Open source maintainers are being inundated with time-consuming [fake/bogus security issues](https://gist.github.com/bagder/07f7581f6e3d78ef37dfbfc81fd1d1cd) and [high bandwidth consumption from scrapers](https://pod.geraspora.de/posts/17342163),
๐ฉ Sora 2 is generating ever more unsettlingly realistic videos, to the point that [Celebrities now need to spend time deconfirming them](https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/jake-paul-slams-viral-ai-123940410.html)
๐ฉ Creative communities are either splitting into human-only/ai-only versions or spending time on enabling users to filter AI/enforcing proper labeling of AI-generated work.
๐ฉ My own experience is that I'm being nudged at work into using Copilot, but not finding it useful for my responsibilities.
The trend is that despite saving time in creative processes, AI is costing time in review/research-based processes, especially those that reach beyond where the originator intended. Things where truth is valued over quick entertainment.
If a necessary part of investing is doing research to get the confidence that a company is going to be a safe investment, then that should imply either of two things:
๐ฉ Investors will have to spend extra time doing research to find the truth beneath all the slop.
๐ฉ Investors may be using AI to handle their investments, trading accuracy for speed.
This means there may come a point where AI is constantly overvalued only because it has nullified the means to prove it's not. What I'm wondering is are we approaching this point or have we passed it, and will there come any dissonance between consumers and investors that disrupt it?
EDIT: Of course because I used emojis instead of actual bullet points, reddit's markdown formatting fucks me over.
