Meta just signed aΒ **US$14 billion deal with CoreWeave**Β to secure huge amounts of cloud and AI capacity.
Hereβs how I see it:
* Short term: itβs going to push costs higher. $14B isnβt pocket change, and I wouldnβt be surprised if this weighs on margins in upcoming quarters.
* Long term: this screams commitment to AI. Meta isnβt just playing around with chatbots or ads theyβre building infrastructure that powers recommendation systems, future metaverse projects, and whatever comes next in large-scale AI.
* Competitive angle: it positions them to better compete with the giants already dominating cloud + AI Microsoft, Google, Amazon. Instead of renting capacity, Meta is basically locking down the horsepower theyβll need for the next decade.
Personally, I like seeing this move. It reminds me of when Amazon poured billions into AWS back in the day. Painful upfront, but it turned into one of their biggest growth engines.
What do you all think? Smart long-term play or reckless spending?
