I've offered to match my son's contributions to his 401k through the end of this year. (Prior to this offer, he has contributed to the max of the employer match, then separately fully funded his Roth for the year)
He's locked in on this offer (good!) and now I'm trying to figure out how to get my matching contributions into his account. Is he (likely) able to contribute the funds directly into his 401k, in addition to the funds that are coming from payroll deduction? Is there a better investment strategy for him, using my matching contributions?
Edit: thanks everyone, for your suggestions. Since he started contributing 100% of his paycheck, starting September 1st, and he's already maxed his Roth for this year, I will deposit my match in his after tax investment account.
Thank you all.
