I was listening to a podcast earlier and the guy mentioned how when people say “save your money,” it sounds like solid advice but with inflation running so high, it just means slowly watching your money lose value
For example, if inflation is 3–4% (and lately it feels higher), then $10,000 in a savings account is worth less every single year. Even with interest, most savings accounts barely keep up, unless you’re in a HYSA and even then, it’s still behind inflation in many cases.
So in 2025, is “saving” just outdated advice? Wouldnt it make more sense to always be investing instead of sitting on cash? Or is there still a real argument for keeping a big chunk in savings?
