I want to keep $100K of my 401K in some brokerage high yield savings account or another option (open to suggestions).
Help! I'm fairly unsophisticated and have been doing SP500 and total market mutual funds investing all my life for my 401K and IRAs. It has kept my stress low in the past few decades.
During this bumpy period, I have this desire to keep $100K of my 401K in a brokerage-associated high yield saving acount or something similar. I don't want to withdraw from 401K and pay the tax on the amount yet (thus the thinking of doing this in a brokerage-associated vehicle so the money never touches my hand).
My goal is to achieve 4% or more interest safely in an account that is safe so I can at least pay real estate tax and other bills if everything goes south. And doing it in a way that avoids the 401K withdrawal tax because I don't need the money in my hand yet.
Given my goal, what do the gurus on here suggest (which institution, which account, is there a better way to achieve this?). I realize some may say "don't do anything, just stay in the market" but this is something that I'm interested in exploring. Thanks in advance.
