25, nomadic investor seeking the best All-World ETF for the next 35–40 years
Hi everyone, I’m 25 and plan to retire at 65. I’m very nomadic—Europe today, who knows where tomorrow—and I want a single All-World ETF to carry me through the next 35–40 years. I’ve been thinking about fees vs. tracking difference. Do you favor the lowest TER possible, or are you willing to pay a bit more if it means tighter index tracking?
Keep in mind that all global ETFs were launched by U.S. firms around 2009–2011 and are USD-denominated. Since then, the euro lost roughly 40 % against the dollar, which artificially boosted returns for Europeans. If EUR/USD reverses, those same ETFs might underperform. For instance, in recent weeks the FTSE All-World dropped nearly 10 % while the euro gained about 5 % vs. the dollar.
Given this, if you were just starting to invest now, which single All-World ETF would you recommend and why? What’s your reasoning?
