Defensive Plays - Looking for Recommendations

Hi,
After the rout in early April my portfolio has almost completely recovered. At present I am 70/30 split and at my age I realized that this might be slightly too aggressive - I am early 50s and considering "retiring" in 3-7 year range depending on a lot of variables. I have a 70K money market emergency fund and some CDs. But the rest of my portfolio which is about 1.4MM is a mix of stocks and bonds with a 70/30 lean toward stocks.

I want to transition to more like 65/35 split of equities to more conservative instruments but not cash instruments. I don't have any real trust in the bond market right now (but maybe I should)?

I am looking for recommendations and any help would be appreciated.
