I’ve been in the crypto space for years and after roundtripping a couple times, I now cashed out 80k. It’s a number I’m happy with, but it’s also a number that you have to be careful with as it doesn’t allow for many mistakes. I don’t have anyone to turn to in real life for advice and feedback so hence I’m asking you.
Currently I’m considering 3 options:
- Keep it in crypto as I know the space well. Turned 10k into 50-100k unrealized a couple times (and lost it all again) so I’m fairly confident I can do it again
- Rotate a big chunk into stocks. Much safer, allows diversification, but less exponential upside
- Invest in a small mobile home to turn into a loft-like stay and rent out through Airbnb
This is mostly about controlling risk. I’ve been very risk-on in crypto and it’s worked well for me. But I want to be cautious with putting my money back on the table. Therefore I find more peace of mind with stocks and the Airbnb, although this comes with risks on its own.
Where I’m currently at with my thought process is:
- Crypto: keep 10-20k for risk-on plays and potentially big wins
- Stocks: rotate 40k into stocks for safer, long term investment
- Airbnb: see what I could do with 20-30k (if anything…)
I’m 28 years old. My goal is to use this money to really build it into something. I see this as a stepping stone. The potential upside is very important to me.
10 years down the line I’d love to own and rent out several Airbnb’s, which will keep me busy in my later years. Though I’m wondering if now is the time to start investing in that. My reasoning is that if I had 200-500k, I could easily take a gamble and buy an Airbnb location for 50k, let the rest sit in stocks. But right now I’m not sure what will actually increase my net worth, and thus leverage for investments, the most in the near future (1-3 years) without actually going full risk-on.
