I’m holding for now but have gotten crushed as APPL as my largest single position. Current share price is back down to around my cost basis. I could sell or trim and owe no taxes, and pivot to other options.
My thesis to hold: Other names may recover faster, but I don’t think people will stop buying iPhones if cost goes up a few hundred bucks. Other considerations are the huge installed user base, future AI upside, and ability to redirect 50% or so of manufacturing to India. I also think the worst case is baked in, and the reality of where the dust settles in respect to tariffs is going to prompt a realization that APPL has been oversold. Last, I think passive investors piling into the S&P will benefit APPL more than any other given its weighting.
What are you doing and why in respect to APPL in your portfolio?
If you’re selling or already did, what are you replacing it with?
