I sat out the COVID crash with $500k in cash… and I still don’t know what to do. Anyone else in the same boat?

Have about 1m total but 500k for living 500k for investing
I’m in music Bussiness I’m a singer so income can be inconsistent but I’d expect between 200-300k a year depending how songs do ect for the foreseeable future
I’ve been sitting on $500,000 in cash since early 2020. When the COVID crash happened, I froze. I thought I’d wait for a “clear bottom” or more certainty.
Then the recovery took off… and I missed it.
Fast forward to today:
• Markets have rebounded hard
• Inflation, interest rates, AI boom, and global instability all make me hesitate
• I’m still just sitting here with half a million dollars, unsure of the “right” move
Here’s what’s holding me back:
• I don’t want to buy in at the top
• I worry about inflation eating my cash
• I’m tired of trying to time the market — but scared of going all in
• I’d love passive growth, but also safety
I’m not looking for a magic answer, just real talk:
• What would you do if you were in my shoes right now?
• Is DCA still the best path?
• Where do you see long-term opportunity in this market?
Anyone else who sat out 2020 and still feels stuck, I’d love to hear your mindset — or how you finally made a move.
