Need someone smarter than me to do this math. Have $14k set aside for my and my wife’s 2026 Roth IRAs. Dump it in now in my taxable brokerage account or keep it to fund 2026.
For further context, my wife isn’t working. She will be in 2028. I make about $150k in a LCOL area. We’re doing pretty decent with our financial situation. The money is in my HYSA to ensure our IRAs will be funded for 2026. I can probably put money into the IRAs monthly when 2026 rolls around but it’ll be monthly and it’ll stretch us a little thin, tho not too bad. Should I hang on to the money to make sure our IRAs are funded on Jan 1st or dump it in now and just fund the IRAs as we go throughout the year? We’re in our early 30s, looking for retirement early-mid fifties. I know there’s a lot of volatility in the market right now, but I’m not too concerned - we’re invested mostly in VT and I’m not trying to time the market, just wondering if it’s more worth it to hold it or just get it in now. Thank you all for your help!
