Has anyone figured out how to claim loss on stocks that went worthless in RH?
Backstory is I have some stocks I purchased and on the 1099 I received, it looks like they went worthless in 2024. I got the transaction report from RH so I have the cost basis of what I originally purchased the stocks for. Do I need to fill out my own 1099-B to report this loss since it doesn't seem like RH does that?
This is the first time this has happened to me so I'm a bit lost and RH support didn't really help too much. I read that other brokerages will let you sell them for $0 so you can claim the loss and they'll send you a 1099 with all transaction information. RH support was saying they don't do that since security is worthless. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
